Marsha RothpanOrganizational Change
Marsha Katz Rothpan brings more than 20 years of professional and volunteer experience in non-profit and Jewish community organizations, camps and synagogues to her work with HCN. Her areas of expertise include organizational and leadership development, community engagement, program development and assessment. In addition to being a consultant, she is the part-time Marketing and Family Program Director for The Shalom Institute and Camp JCA Shalom in Malibu, CA. Prior to this, Marsha held the position of Program and Marketing Director at Congregation Or Ami in Calabasas, CA and spent more than five years with STAR (Synagogues: Transformation and Renewal), a national organization focused on executive leadership training and congregational engagement. At STAR, she held the position of Senior Program Officer and directed synagogue renewal initiatives such as STAR’s national Synaplex™ Initiative and the pilot initiative, Collaborating for Congregational Capacities. In June, 2009, Marsha received the Jewish Communal Professionals of Southern California’s prestigious Mark Meltzer Award for New and Innovative Programming for developing STAR’s Synaplex Initiative into a national program with a diverse network of over 200 congregations. Marsha also worked at Hadassah Southern California Metro Area and the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles before her becoming a consultant and working with STAR.Marsha serves in leadership roles in several non-profit organizations in the Los Angeles area. She is currently the co-chair of the national alumni professional development program for Hebrew Union College School of Jewish Non Profit Management (formerly School of Jewish Communal Service). Marsha holds an M.A. in Jewish Communal Service from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern California.
