Rabbi Hayim Herring, Ph.D., is an author, presenter and nonprofit organizational futurist, with a specialty in Jewish community. A former congregational rabbi, senior federation executive and executive director at a national Jewish foundation, Hayim is uniquely suited to bring outside perspective and research, coupled with real-world experience, to inspire organizations to achieve their greatest impact. Hayim believes that leadership is fundamentally about creating a preferable future by understanding risks, but focusing energy on significant possibilities.

Hayim also holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Management. He has built a reputation as an organizational visionary, entrepreneur and expert consultant for congregations, Jewish organizations and other socially responsible non-profit organizations. Hayim’s areas of expertise include entrepreneurship, organizational foresight, and new methods in strategic planning. Hayim works with nonprofits to cultivate leaders who can translate their organization’s relevance to new generations and better engage individuals in the work that they do.

In addition to over 40 scholarly and popular articles and studies about the contemporary American Jewish community, Hayim’s most recent publications include a book about leadership, synagogues and the broader American Jewish community, titled Tomorrow’s Synagogue Today: Creating Vibrant Centers of Jewish Life (Alban Institute 2012), and a companion action guide for use with boards and committees titled, Tomorrow’sSynagogue Today. A Guide for Reflection and Action (UJA-Federation of New York and Alban Institute 2013); and, Keeping the Faith in Rabbis: A Community Conversation about Rabbinical Educationco-authored with Ellie Roscher (Avenida Books, December 2014), an anthology of essays from rabbis, lay people and academics across the denominational spectrum, critically exploring the question, “What goes into the making of a 21st Century Rabbinical Leader?”

Sheridan Zuther joined Herring Consulting Network in February 2012 after touring the U.S. and Canada 7 years as a performer with nationally-acclaimed vocal jazz quintet Five By Design, performing with over 70 symphony orchestras and on the stages of 350+ performing art centers. She was also Five By Design’s Operations Manager, which honed skills that helps her produce large-scale musicals and private events in the Twin Cities since 2007. Prior to working on the road, she learned about marketing as an Account Coordinator with Campbell Mithun Advertising for 5 years while performing at venues such as the Ordway Center, the Guthrie, and Park Square Theater. She still performs locally with Five By Design as well as her own jazz/swing and opera gigs in the Cities. She teaches private voice lessons, along with music clinics and master classes in high schools, colleges, and summer camps around the country. Sheridan received her B.M. Vocal Performance-Opera from the Univ. of Missouri-Kansas City, Conservatory of Music. Rabbi Jason has made a name for himself as an entrepreneurial rabbi and a social media expert whose personal blog has been viewed by over 2.5 million. He’s a sought-after speaker on the intersection of new technology with Jewish life and The Detroit Free Press called him “the most tech-savvy Jewish leader” and the Huffington Post and JTA has continuously ranked him among the top Jewish Twitter users in the world. James W. Schreier, Ph.D., SPHR is a management consultant specializing in management and leadership training, organizational development, strategic exploration and planning, and organizational culture assessment and change. Dr. Schreier is the Director of Training for Joel Barker’s Strategic Exploration Tools. Schreier is a Master Facilitator Trainer for the Implications Wheel® and Strategy Matrix® Strategic Exploration Tools. He has worked closely with Joel Barker, developing new applications for the tools, including the Vision Album and T.I.P.S. Tracking. He has facilitated major strategic exploration using the Implications Wheel for the City of Prior Lake, Hurricane Katrina, the World Future Society, and the YMCA International Youth Leadership Conference.
